Programme

Service summer camp

Cooking, living and working together on a project useful to the place we live in. The camp ends with something real, not a group photo.

The idea

Identity is not formed by a lecture but by work done together. A week of cooking for each other, sleeping under one roof and finishing something hard teaches more than ten talks about culture.

How the week runs

  • Day one: forming teams, choosing the project, splitting the work.
  • Four days in the middle: work morning and afternoon, group programme in the evening.
  • Final day: handing the result to whoever receives it, and looking back together.
  • The young people share out all the cooking and cleaning themselves.

Who it is for

Young people aged 15–24. No prior skills needed, only the willingness to spend a week living communally and working with your hands.

Cost and applications

We keep the contribution as low as we can and hold supported places for families under strain — nobody is turned away over money. Dates and the application form go up before each summer.
